  • Was Simon Peter crucified upside-down?

Among the martyrdom accounts of the apostles of Jesus for their Christian faith, the one most people have heard of is that Peter was crucified upside down. This supposedly was by his own request, as he felt he was not worthy of dying in the same manner as his Lord Jesus Christ. Despite this being such a common account, most people who repeat it do not apply proper scrutiny to the tradition of Peter’s crucifixion, such as asking about its origin. Is the account accurate? Was Peter even crucified in the first place? The answer to many of these questions is explored in “The Fate of the Apostles,” by Sean McDowell, in chapter 5, which discusses Peter’s martyrdom.

  • The difficulties of Salvation through Christ for Non-Christians

Why is the Christian method of salvation hard for non-believers to comprehend? This is a question I had while reading “Essentials: Five Core Beliefs of the Christian Faith” by Guy Kneebone, in which he discusses the essentiality of Salvation via Grace alone, Faith Alone, and Christ Alone. Non-religious people, as noted by the book, are under the impression that being able to go to heaven is possible through doing good works. They believe that by being a good person, they will go to heaven. Other religions like Islam, Hinduism, and Mormonism all equate works as the prime method of achieving salvation. It has us wonder why Christianity’s method of salvation is so alien to most people, whether they be non-religious or religious.

What does Christian worship truly look like? That is a question I hadn’t taken the time to dwell on until I recently read and analyzed “You Are What You Love: The Spiritual Power of Habit”, written by James K.A. Smith. This Book teaches us about the power of Christ’s love versus the rival liturgies in the world. In chapter 3 of the book, the focus is on how God’s spirit meets us and how the historic nature of worship should impact us in the present. This addresses the primary topic in this post, our misconceptions about what Christian worship truly looks like.

  • Superman 2025 review

When I first heard that James Gunn was going to do a Superman movie that would kick off a new DC Universe, I was filled with confidence in this upcoming movie. James Gunn’s prior comic book movies are some of the most true-to-form comic book movies in terms of style, as they are not afraid to embrace the weirder and goofier aspects of comic books. His work on the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy is among some of the best of the MCU and comic book movies in general, while his “The Suicide Squad” movie is light-years above the original “Suicide Squad” movie. I expected Superman to be at least good, and I am happy to say Superman is a film that is inspiring, funny, and truly portrays the character of Superman.
